Goals for Jan 2009

Posted on 07. Jan, 2009 by Derrick in The Net Experiment

Hi All,

Its been a couple days since my last post and I know what you may all be thinking - I’m taking a holiday already or getting lazy:). unfortunately not taking a holiday just yet and definitely not lazy! :). Anyway, I’ve basically been doing a lot of research on driving traffic and thinking about how I want my blog to look like, so over the next few days I’ll be updating you on my traffic research as well as some more design changes as I make this page more user friendly :)

I’ve also decided to do a daily progress report at the end of each day to keep me honest :), and to summarise what’s I’ve been doing, plus show you the results of my labour. But first up, I thought It be a good idea to share with you my goals for the first month of 2009:

1. Income -

Actually make some money :). . yes. . I’ve been going for a little over a month now, and no cash has rolled in yet, but that’s ok. . I plan to start making some by next week - to be exact here is my income target breakdowns:

Total Month of January US$2500.00
Week Ending 18th Jan $500.00
Week Ending 25th Jan $750.00
Week Ending 1st Feb $1250.00

2. Traffic Goals

Overall Traffic Goal in January is to get 1000 Unique visits a day

Week Ending 11th - 100/day
Week Ending 18th - 200/day
Week Ending 25th - 400/day
Week Ending 1st Feb - 1000/day

3. List Building

Create a Mailing List of 1000 Subscribers

Week Ending 11th - 0
week Ending 18th - 100
Week Ending 25th - 300
Week Ending 1st Feb - 600

Here’s a nice summary in a colourful table cause I like to look at information presented beautifully :)

So there’s my goals for this month. I think they are achievable, but I think I’ll definitely have to put a lot of hard work to get those numbers. .

Luckily this morning in the shower - a great place to get divine intervention :). . I was struck with a couple of GREAT IDEAS which will come into effect starting next week. . so stay tuned for what they might be.

Would love to hear your thoughts on my goals - do you think they are realistic and achievable? based on where I am now - current website content, visits about 30-50/day, zero income) - feel free to leave a comment below :)

Ok, thats all from me for the moment, gotta get a crackalackin’ . . and get ready for a TV commercial audition. .wish me luck!

    Hey Derrick,

Firstly, well done for putting your goals out there. It’s not enough to talk about them but actually writing them down makes them more achievable.
I’d like to recommend Gary Simpson’s action planner for your daily progress report. If you haven’t already done so then download it for free from his blog (i’m using it myself).

And secondly, anything is achievable of you put your mind to it. I personally would suggest to hold back on the amount of money you want to make and concentrate on getting traffic and subscribers to your blog first.
Don’t worry my friend, if you stick with the plan the money will surely follow.

    regards

    Guy

      Hi Guy,

thanks for y our comment, It is a bit scary with the income goals within the time frame - since I really haven’t got a feel for what I can do in this space yet. I’ll check out the daily planner you mentioned.

Totally agree with you on achieving anything if you set your mind to it, the question really for me, is more a matter of when those income goals will be achieved :)
thanks again for your support :)

    Hi Derrick,

Firstly, I can’t remember whether I thanked you for the Gravatar advise, so thanks, it worked!!, as you say a picture paints a thousand words.

I like your bold approach to January goals, and your colourful table. I am certain that you will achieve them because you are obviously very focused and have the technical skills to attract traffic.

Although I have written 2 ebooks I find I am struggling with W.press as I have never used it before. Guess I will have to strart outsourcing some of these tasks otherwise I am going to be left behind. Most of my info. has come from http://howtobecomeablogger.com which has been a great help.

I will keep my eye on your progess!!

    Cheers for now
